A little early to be hitting the panic button
But the way things have been going…
Every few months, my dad will tell me that he wants to move to North Carolina. He’s the only person in our family who wants to move. Short story: dad has two sisters and two brothers (used to be three, but his oldest brother just passed away last year) who live there. Aunt #7 and Uncle #1 (the one who passed) both own restaurants (Chinese Buffets) out in NC. For years, since I was in high school, my dad has talked about moving to NC. All his siblings live out there except for Uncle #2. Uncle #2 lives here in L.A., just a few minutes away from us.
I’m panicking because in a year, it may be possible. Things aren’t going well here. And that is a very real possibility. So I’m freaking out, wondering if I can get my newspaper subscriptions (LA Times and Daily News) sent out there. I very very very very much do not want to move. My whole life is here in L.A. Where I go to church, where my friends live, and of course, the Dodgers.
My cousin (Jenny) is probably right and it probably won’t happen. But just in case…
I looked it up on Google Maps.
The closest churches to my aunt’s restaurant are
Columbia, SC 156 miles, 2 hours and 34 minutes
Aiken, SC – 199 miles – 3 hours and 18 minutes
Florence, SC – 232 miles, 3 hours and 46 minutes
Kingstree, SC -244 miles, 4 hours and 25 minutes
Now as far as baseball stadiums and ball parks go …
