Can you smell another Silver Slugger?

When Matt Kemp hit a home run to Right Field off Todd Wellemeyer in the first inning of Friday’s game against the San Francisco Giants, he became the first Dodger to homer in the first four home games. That’s right. The Dodgers have played four games at home so far this year and Matt Kemp has hit a home run in each of them. On Tuesday, he hit a home run in the fourth inning off

Home Run Hug!

Any translators out there?

My cousin Jenny has been saving me some Chinese newspapers for me and trying to translate some of the captions. Anyone out there want to give it a shot too?

I hope the characters come out. If not, there’s a link to the actual article

According to the little google translation, it says

Twelve hours and twenty-five minutes

That is the total time of the three game series between the Dodgers and the Diamondbacks. Game one lasted 3:46, Game two 4:57, and Game three 3:42. The funny thing? They were 8.5, 11, and 9 innings each respectively. I think that’s how you would count it right? Since the Dodgers didn’t use their half of the ninth, so there wasn’t nine innings total played on Tuesday’s home opener. Twelve hours! That meant for three games, the average game time was a little over 4 hours and 7 minutes.

First row is the average of the three games, the second row is the totals

Thanks Jamey and Jon!

First, thanks Jamey Carroll for stopping by and signing my Opening Day baseball and taking a photo with me. Thanks Pat for getting him over. Secondly, thanks you Jon SooHoo for taking the time to send me a copy of the photo you took of us. No kidding, less than 5 minutes after I sent the email, I got a reply.

Here’s Jamey Carroll and me on my camera.

“Did you sit next to Rihanna?”

That was the subject of the e-mail I got two hours ago from my cousin Wendy.

Here’s the e-mail

At first glance I seriously thought this was you, Linda. Is it?

I clicked on the link and I suppose at first glance, I could see the similarities. But I also know the differences. One, my hair isn’t that dark. Two, I don’t wear sunglasses. Ever. Okay. Once a year when I can actually find a pair, but I wear sunglasses as often as I chew gum. My friends will tell you. It’s a rarity. Three, I don’t have bangs. But in my cousin’s defense, I thought it was cute that she thought the girl looked like me.

Then eleven minutes ago, she wrote me again:

Ok at first glance it looked like you, but thereafter it didn’t
anymore… nevermind :)

Here’s my reply to her:

lol yeah! didn’t you know I’m chill with Matt Kemp and his gf? lol
that’s cool. You’re right though. First glace I suppose we could look
like

G2: My First Opening Day

What a game! Four home runs on my first Dodgers’ Home Opener.

My day started with what else… traffic. I headed out to take the back streets to Academy… and had barely hit Broadway when I hit traffic. It was more of a parking lot because it was crawling. So, I went and got my cousin since she was three blocks away from where I was at the moment. We took a different route and she dropped me off at the Downtown Gate. A few minutes after Jenny left, Cat showed up. She gave me a lift inside. The parking gates opened earlier than the stadium gates. That gave people a chance to go down to Autograph Alley and meet Maury Wills and Tommy Davis. I just went to my gate and waited, that way I could get in first and look for Easter Eggs (batting practice baseballs) since I was sitting in the Left Field Pavilion. While we were waiting for the gates to open, a long line started for form for the bath room.

As soon as they started letting us in, the guy behind me went right. Since he went right, I figured I’d go left. As soon as I got up, there was a baseball right there waiting for me. I made my way to the Dodgers’ bullpen and hung out there for the rest of batting practice. Several people saw me standing there and asked me, “what are you doing up there?” They were surprised I was in the Left Field Pavilion instead of in the field level. One of the grounds crew guys saw me and said hey and asked me what I was doing in the left field pavilion. He said he’d toss me a ball later. He usually throws a few out before the game while he’s going around. He came by later and asked me if I was ready. He tossed the ball up, it was a little short but I reached out enough that it bounced off my hand and into the aisle. Fortunately, the person where the ball stopped at gave it back to me. Since I had two balls, I gave one to Cari, since she gave me the ticket.

I’ve only been to Opening Day down in San Diego. This is my first Dodgers’ Home Opener. If you ever go to a Home Opener and you sit in the Pavilion, be prepared for lots of smoke. By the time it was time for the National Anthem, I couldn’t see because I got smoke or something in my eyes. It took me a few blinks to finally be able to see again.

DOES ANYONE HAVE…

Does anyone have a copy of the following newspapers from Sunday, April 4th they would like to donate to my Dodgers scrapbook/yearbook?
