WAY bigger. The bigger the player, the bigger the crowd.

I went to one Kemp signing (my friends wanted to go and I needed to get him in my scrapbook that he turned away earlier) this year. I showed up around 1:30 AM and there were at least 150 or so people already in line. First person in line got there around 6 or 7 PM (this was Friday night btw). What time was the signing? It was at 10AM on Saturday morning,

I was just wondering, how crowded are the signature events for the bigger stars like Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw. I live in New York so I wouldn’t be going for those players in particular, but I just wanted to get a sense of the crowds at these kind of things.

You going to Jamey Carroll’s? He’s easy enough to get at the Stadium and I don’t really need him on anything bad enough to drive 30 minutes there and then 40 minutes to work. I’d go if it was AJ Ellis or Trent Oeltjen (Even though I don’t need anything from those guys either) but I love those two that I’ll just show up to show up. Now if it was like St. Vincent’s and really close I’d go.

Very nice! I wanted to go to TGJ on this day too, so I could hit one of the other appearances on Saturday, but it’s too tough on a work day. As you know, I ended up getting him the next day.

Yeah, I remember seeing the highlights where he hit the homerun and I immediately yelled at the TV: He did it! He’s now hit against all 30 teams. And then I was miffed at the Sports media for not really mentioning it. I watched MLB network the next day and kept yelling at the TV that they weren’t making any mention of it. I never updated the blog entry. Thanks for the reminder.

It’s kind of funny that I wrote the post on May 22 and less than a month later, Jim Thome joined the list!
